  1. HOW I KNOW

From the recording FROZEN IN TIME

In cart Not available Out of stock

My wife and I used to tour and play music together. She played bass and sang harmonies with me. After one of our UK tours, I asked her to marry me on a bridge in Paris. This song is for her.

***
A sweet, light, romantic acoustic ballad accompanied by vibraphone that could play really well with Josh Rouse’s album 1972, “How I Know” is a reel-to-reel cinematic flashback to the start of a couple’s committed relationship and the soundtrack is retro. The lyrics are airy: “This is the day I’ll give into you / I’ll be afraid hoping you feel it too.” A precious ode to Vopnfjord’s own fairy tale of playing music with his spritely and spirited lady on one of his UK tours, who will say ‘yes’ to his marriage proposal on a Paris bridge. The song carries out from innocence to mature lasting love, “you know me / you show me / seasons change again / it’s easy to love you more each day.”

Lyrics

HOW I KNOW
This is the day I’ll give in to you
I’ll be afraid hoping you feel it too
Strong winds blowing at my back
Fire in the sky turning black

This is how I know you love…The way you love

You open your heart and let me in
This is where I stop and we begin
Gravity at your heels
Time stands still

This is how I know you love…The way you love

Tonight’s the night I will ask you
This ring's without your finger too
Full moon out from behind the clouds
Cannot cast a shadow now

You know me
You show me
Seasons change again
It’s easy to love you more each day
